About USPaycheckGuide
USPaycheckGuide.com is an independent publisher of free calculators and plain-English guides that help people in the United States understand their paycheck, taxes, savings, debt and retirement. Our goal is simple: give you a clear answer in seconds, then explain the reasoning so you can make your own decisions with confidence.
What we publish
Our tools cover take-home pay in all 50 states, hourly and salary conversion, bonus and overtime tax, W-4 withholding, 401(k) planning, mortgage and loan payments, compound interest, budgeting and debt payoff. Our guides explain the concepts behind those numbers, such as FICA, marginal tax brackets, pre-tax deductions and emergency funds.
Where our numbers come from
Federal tax figures are based on IRS inflation adjustments and Social Security Administration wage-base announcements. We keep every tax figure in a single data file so it can be reviewed and updated each January when new figures are released. State rates are based on each state's published tax authority information. See how our calculators work for every source and assumption.
Who reviews our figures
Shaharyar Abid, Editorial Reviewer. Reviews every USPaycheckGuide calculator and salary guide before it is published, and again whenever tax figures change. LinkedIn profile.
Every review checks our numbers against the official publications listed below: the IRS, the Social Security Administration, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and each state's tax agency. Each calculator and guide lists the exact sources it uses in a Sources box at the end of the page.
- IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32: 2026 federal tax brackets and standard deduction
- IRS Publication 15-T: federal income tax withholding methods
- Social Security Administration: 2026 Social Security wage base
- IRS Topic 560: Additional Medicare Tax
- U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, OEWS: occupation and area wage data
- State tax agencies and payroll programs for all 50 states and Washington DC: full list
How we write
Every guide is written to be useful first: we lead with the answer, show the math, and point out common mistakes. We avoid hype, we do not guarantee outcomes, and we clearly label estimates as estimates. When rules are complicated or change often, we say so and link you toward official sources.
Your privacy
Calculators run in your browser. The numbers you type are not stored or sent to us. Read our Privacy Policy for details on cookies and advertising.
